Book Review: Dregs
My own novel-in-progress, LIQUID WORLD, is about an introvert who thinks one of the severed feet that washed ashore belongs to his brother.
So you can imagine my interest in this police procedural, which transplants the severed feet to northern Europe. My copy of the book was delivered by magic fairies to my “smart phone” and I read it on the tiny screen–devoured it like a hungry rat, in fact–because it had a sympathetic main character, no giant holes in the plot (a few coincidences, but the narrator remarked on them, which defused their coincidentality), and a kind of dark sadness over it all that made up for the iffy translation. A good read, IF YOU ARE INTO THE SEVERED FEET.
